Covid-19 Response
Thank you for taking the time to read the following policies and procedures that have been instituted to protect my clients and myself in light of COVID-19 before scheduling your appointment.
Please know that these practices are based on the requirements of the state and the strong recommendations of massage professional organizations and medical personnel. I am putting them in place to protect you and your contacts as well as myself and mine. Massage is a close contact activity, and has inherent risk as we battle this illness, therefore I am being as careful as possible going forward until we have a vaccine and/or effective treatment for COVID-19.
Arrival
Please do not come for your appointment if you are ill or have been ill in the last 48 hours. I have never charged a missed appointment fee for illness and will not now, including last minute cancellations.
When you arrive at my office, please do not enter the waiting room to wait, call or text when you arrive and I will let you know when I am ready for you to enter.
When you enter the building come straight to my office where I will take your temperature with a touchless thermometer before we begin. I will be taking my own temperature twice daily as well.
You will then be asked to fill out a COVID specific intake/waiver form at each visit on which I will also record your temperature. This is necessary to provide additional screening for illness risk factors as well as for insurance liability. If you like I can send you this form in advance of your appointment to fill out that day before you come in to reduce touching items in the office.
Personal Protective Equipment
We are both required to wear masks throughout your appointment. I will have masks available if you do not have one. If you are unable or unwilling to wear a mask, I am sorry that I will be unable to schedule you for a massage at this time.
Due to facial coverings, I will not be doing facial work by default during this time, nor will I be doing intraoral work. If you are having a particular need for facial work, I will do it over the mask, but must use gloves for this work. I will not be wearing gloves for the rest of the body unless I or my client has an open wound, but I will be practicing very rigorous hand hygiene. If you would prefer that I wear gloves, I can.
In addition to a mask, I will be wearing eye protection and a fabric gown. The gown is so that anything I am wearing that might touch a client can be easily changed between each client without being pulled over my face. Remember, the more vigilant I am about preventing my own infection, the less likely I am to pass something between clients.
Office setup and sanitation
To properly adhere to the new guidelines, I have made several changes to my office. Touchless hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to my office and I ask that you sanitize on the way in and out.
I will have a contactless pay option, but if you do not have that set up, rest assured that I will be sanitizing everything that I or my clients touch between each client.
All pieces of furniture that clients might touch have been adapted or replaced so that they can be sanitized between every client. Knickknacks and decor items have been removed to facilitate cleaning procedures.
I will be changing all table linens between clients, so any extra padding on the table has been removed.
Because the windows of my office do not open for regular ventilation, I will be running a HEPA air purification system throughout the session as well as before, after and during cleaning.
Scheduling
Due to increased time required for cleaning and to avoid incidental contact between clients, I will be scheduling clients at least 30 minutes apart. I will also initially be scheduling fewer clients per day to accommodate the added cleaning and laundry time, as well as the physiological stress of working in PPE. I would advise scheduling more of your appointments further out to make sure you get your desired appointment time.
